Ahead of the highly-anticipated co-located Pigment & Colour Science Forum and TiO2 World Summit 2019, we spoke to confirmed speaker, Jodi J. Francis, Buyer - Colours at LUSH about what we can expect from her presentation at this year's event, plus much more!
You are going to be talking about today’s sustainability and ethical considerations for colour–why is this an important topic for the audience?
Sustainability and ethical considerations have become key topics across all industries at the moment and this is not only related to marketing as they once were, but impacts are real and filter down to our everyday lives and that of future generations. As there is so much to weigh out within these areas, I hope that will expand the already ongoing discussions and stimulate ideas that can help us to move closer to these goals.
What are the biggest challenges facing the industry right now and how to do you think this conference can address them?
I think that most global manufacturers would highlight that varying guidance on pigments across markets for the different types of cosmetics remains a huge challenge for formulating new products globally. There are definitely concerns around the potential impact of Brexit as it relates to REACH regulations for example which would in turn affect movement of materials across key supply chains.
What do you see as the most significant changes coming up in the pigment sector in the next 12-24 months?
Changes in regulations around commodity materials may result in a shift in current usage and potentially a drive shift in current applications of these as multi-functionals and introduction of newer grades to the markets.
What are you most looking for to about attending the co-located Pigment and Colour Science Forum and TiO2 World Summit?
I am most looking forward to meeting more people within the sector hearing about exciting innovations that can potentially lead to industry wide positive developments.
