BASF, Smithers Rapra to Launch Emerging Professional Scholarship at Pigment and Color Science Forum 2014

Smithers Rapra is pleased to announce our new collaboration with long-standing partner BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, at the 2014 Pigment and Color Science Forum, October 7-9 in Montréal, Canada.

BASF’s Emerging Professional Scholarship will allow up and coming professionals in the pigment supply chain to attend the conference complimentarily alongside a colleague who has also registered for the event. This scholarship will connect emerging professionals with executives at top companies such as Ford, X-Rite Pantone, Boeing, GM, Merck, The Shepherd Color Company and many others.

“BASF is truly committed to creating ‘chemistry for a sustainable future’ which includes ensuring that emerging professionals in our field have access to a full complement of tools that will further their careers AND our industry as a whole.  We are excited to work with them on this initiative which will allow every single paid registrant for the 2014 Pigment and Color Science Forum to add on a colleague to attend alongside them and increase the learning, networking and exposure for their organization.  This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone currently involved in the industry and I strongly encourage as many organizations as possible to take advantage of this offer and BASF’s generosity,” said Andrew Smaha, Conference Director at Smithers Rapra.

Added Smaha “The Pigment and Color Science Forum is just the platform to connect newcomers with industry thought leaders.  Networking with our advisory board and speakers alone, who represent more than forty big-name companies in the industrial pigments and colorant sectors, will be worthwhile for anyone trying to gain traction in the industry - not to mention the 300+ attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors they will also have the opportunity to meet,” he added.

“BASF has supported the Pigment and Color Science Forum for a number of years and this opportunity embodies our corporate mission. The pigments industry needs a place and a platform where we can come together and support each other and build the types of collaborative relationships that will sustain the industry for years to come,” said Paul Czornij, Technical Manager - Color Excellence Group, BASF.  “BASF and Smithers Rapra have created this program to effect short and long term changes in support of the health of the industry. I hope that many of my industry colleagues will join us in Montreal to discuss the topics that are most critical to our future.”

The Pigment and Color Science Forum 2014 program will provide a deeper understanding of the issues and challenges currently facing the industry, including color science and how design perspectives and tastes impact the supply chain; how to forge deeper connections between academic study, R&D, performance engineering and industry and emerging pigment opportunities; and the tools & systems that can help quantify data more efficiently.

Every attendee, including those participating in BASF’s Emerging Professionals Scholarship, will have access to all of the Pigment and Color Science Forum’s sessions as well as the co-located TiO2 World Summit. The collaboration of the two events is a first-time occurrence for Smithers Rapra and will expose attendees to a global review of minerals and feedstocks; TiO2 supplier perspectives and major global project updates and a look at forging deeper connections between academic study, R&D, performance engineering and industry.

The shared exhibition hall for Pigment and Color Science Forum and TiO2 World Summit is sold out; however, limited sponsorship opportunities are still available. To learn more, contact Brian Santos at +1 207 781 9618.
